Christopher Algea
Christopher has enjoyed being immersed in the food and beverage industry ever since he can remember. While growing up in Memphis, he helped his family garden fresh vegetables, worked at restaurants throughout high school and college, and soon started getting creative in the kitchen and classroom. This eventually led to the start of Keen One Quinoa out of a new product development class at CU in 2007. Keen One specializes in quick cooking dinner mixes, cereals, and snacks all made from organic quinoa and other unique ingredients. Christopher is still acting President at Keen One Foods and when not working, he enjoys the outdoors, sports, cooking, hanging out with friends, and traveling whenever possible.
Bill Capsalis
Bill Capsalis has 25 plus years of corporate marketing and executive level management experience. He spent 12 years as the VP of Marketing for Kinko's in the Central Division making the brand a household word. During his tenure, Bill became an expert in all aspects of marketing including; public relations, retail marketing strategies, promotions and strategic partnering opportunities. Bill also served as the Executive V.P. of Marketing for GAIAM Inc. While at GAIAM Bill helped define the brand category for the LOHAS industry (Lifestyle of Health and Sustainability) and was responsible for all catalog production, web development, branding and support of the retail network. Bill is President of Naturally Boulder.
Rob Goldstein
Rob is a partner with Polsinelli PC in Denver. Rob counsels business owners with practical solutions to business issues based on more than 20 years legal experience. Rob regularly advises clients on all varieties of corporate and transactional matters. A substantial number of Rob’s clients are manufacturers and retailers of organic and natural food products in all phases of business operation, from start-ups to established brands to companies seeking an investor or an exit. Rob counsels these clients on general business and food manufacturing matters; ingredient, labeling, adulteration and misbranding issues; current good manufacturing practices, and trademark, trade dress and trade secret issues. Rob also drafts and reviews agreements with co-packers, distributors, suppliers, manufacturers, packagers, trademark licensors and licensees, creative consultants and investors. Rob is Treasurer of Naturally Boulder.
Alex Hanifin
Alex started her career in the food industry at an early age here in Boulder, CO and currently resides on the team with Boulder Brands. Previously, she was involved in the start-up community working her way up to founding and owning a marketing agency catering to the Natural Products Industry working with brands such as Sir Richard’s and Qrunch Foods. Over the last four years she worked with Rudi’s Organic Bakery and Hain Celestial managing innovation and strategy while expanding their product portfolio into new categories. Her strengths include project management, innovation, marketing and brand growth strategy. She works to inspire the food industry with young energy and by bringing bright ideas to life.

Alex also sits on the Board of Directors for the Growe Foundation, encouraging the education of kids around food, health and the environment. Alex is a native to Boulder, CO and is an avid outdoor traveler who enjoys rock climbing, snow shoeing and SCUBA diving. In her free-time you will see her motivating other young entrepreneurs and brainstorming the next big idea.
Clif Harald
Clif is the Executive Director of the Boulder Economic Council (BEC), the economic development arm of the Boulder Chamber. The mission of the BEC is to sustain Boulder’s economic vitality, which includes a focus on key local industries such as natural and organic products. Clif has more than a dozen years of economic development leadership experience in Boulder County and the metro Denver region. He has also held management positions in private industry, including financial services and IT, and founded his own management consulting practice specializing in economic development and educational technologies. Clif has a Master of Urban Planning degree from the University of Washington and an undergraduate degree from the University of Colorado at Boulder.
Edmee Knight
Edmée began her carrier in sustainable business development as a Peace Corps volunteer in Zambia where she worked with farmers to help integrate sustainable agriculture practices such as permaculture into ever commercializing subsistence farming practices. For the past 7 years she has worked in the non-profit and private sectors focusing on rural economic development – helping rural communities increase their production and access to natural and organic foods. She recently graduated with an MBA from Colorado State University’s Global Social & Sustainable Enterprise program. Edmée is currently working at Alfalfa’s Market as their Sustainability and Shareholder Relations Manager. Edmee is Co-Secretary of Naturally Boulder.
Adriane Little
As Marketing Manager for Earth Balance, a division of Boulder Brands, Inc., Adriane Little works to bring better food to store shelves across the country. In her role at Earth Balance, Adriane is responsible for managing brand communications, digital strategy, new product development, community involvement efforts, cause marketing initiatives, and furthering the plant-based diet message. Adriane is passionate about the natural products industry, and prior to her time at Boulder Brands she founded AspireTrue Communications to help natural and organic companies realize their marketing and communication goals. She has also worked as a natural product review writer, has experience in the advertising industry, and has spent time with preventive health organizations, including Weight Watchers and the American Institute for Preventive Medicine. Adriane has served with many local business networking groups, including Boulder 2140, and Women in Natural.

A Colorado-transplant, Adriane not only enjoys all things natural and organic, but takes pleasure in living near the mountains. An avid skier, hiker and aspiring yogi, Adriane feels at home in the front-range (and its many natural food stores). In her free-time, you will find her drinking tea, reading a book, exploring the local farmers market and cooking up some brown rice. Adriane is Co-Secretary of Naturally Boulder.
Carlotta Mast
As executive director of content and engagement at New Hope Natural Media, Carlotta oversees the content strategy for Natural Foods Merchandiser,, Functional Ingredients, Nutrition Business Journal, New Hope’s consumer content portfolio and the Natural Products Expos. She also is the content director for the NEXT Natural Products Accelerator, a digital platform designed to help entrepreneurs launch and grow their natural products businesses. In addition, Carlotta engages in New Hope's multi-partner research and is the lead author of NEXT: The Natural Products Industry Forecast, an annual trend report published in partnership with Sterling-Rice Group. Carlotta is a frequent speaker at industry events and conferences and has been interviewed about natural products industry trends, regulatory issues and market performance by numerous media outlets, including The New York Times, Cosmopolitan, NPR, ABC News and others. Carlotta also appears in the 2013 BBC documentary The Men Who Made Us Thin. Carlotta is also the co-founder of Wholly Bites, a Boulder-based food company that makes delicious, unprocessed, organic snacks serving the Paleo, grain-free and health-conscious market.
Jennifer Margoles
Jennifer joined the team at 34 Degrees as one of the principal members in 2007. She oversees all General & Administrative functions for this specialty cracker company as well as marketing functions, brand management, channel management, new product development, and customer service. As the brand’s front woman and ambassador, Jennifer has been instrumental in the rapid growth and success of 34 Degrees and is an expert in the natural foods industry. 34˚Crispbread, known as "the most clever crackers", is produced locally in Boulder County, Colo. Due largely in part to Jennifer’s natural energy, business acumen, and passion for customer service; 34˚Crispbread crackers are appearing on cheese plates across the country. Jennifer is a Colorado native and graduate of the CU-Boulder Leeds School of Business. She serves as Secretary of Naturally Boulder. Jennifer is Co-Vice President of Naturally Boulder.
Paul Raab
Paul Raab has more than 25 years of corporate communications leadership experience in a variety of industry sectors. His strengths include strategic communications planning, reputation management, thought leadership development, crisis preparedness and response, professional services marketing and leadership communications. His prior experience includes serving as communications director for A.T. Kearney, a global management consulting firm; and as senior vice president and account director at Golin/Harris International, a global PR counseling firm. Clients he has served in the organic and natural products community include: WhiteWave Foods, Horizon, Rudi’s Organic Bakery, Celestial Seasonings, The Organic Center, Wild Oats Markets, Niman Ranch, Aurora Organic Dairy and Pharmaca.
Paul is a member of the board of directors and executive committee of the Colorado Mountain Club, the largest outdoor recreation and conservation group in the Rocky Mountain Region. He’s a member of the Public Relations Society of America and its Colorado Chapter and served as president of the PRSA Chicago Chapter. He has served as a judge in PR awards competitions including the PRSA Silver and Bronze Anvil awards and the Holmes Report SABRE Awards. Linhart Public Relations, where Paul is a partner, was named PR News Small Agency of the Year for 2011. The firm also was named an INC magazine Winning Workplaces Award winner, Denver Metro Chamber of Commerce Small Business of the Year and PR News Boutique Agency of the Year finalist for the third consecutive year.
Alex Rumman
Alex is a full-time foodie who enjoys long walks down grocery store aisles, weekend getaways to farmer’s markets, and Friday night fine dining in her kitchen.

She has worked in the grocery industry her entire professional career. First at Interact, a CPG marketing and design agency, as a senior account executive turned creative director for brands like Disney Consumer Products, Food For Life, Marzetti, and Ciao Bella. Next, as the Community Manager at Alfalfa’s Market, one of Boulder’s most respected natural grocers. And now, at Door To Door Organics, a progressive national online grocery store where her efforts aim to change the way the people buy groceries. Alex brings infectious energy that can move mountains, a penchant for uncommon ideas and a most contemporary pulse on what it takes for brands to find relevance in today’s marketplace.
Jason Vieth
Jason is VP, Strategy and Growth Development at WhiteWave and is a member of the company’s Senior Leadership Team. He leads the company’s Strategic Planning activities, and is responsible for innovation and product development outside of WhiteWave’s core business units. During the past few years, Jason had also led WhiteWave’s international business and played a key role in the various M&A activities that have propelled WhiteWave to be among the largest and fastest growing businesses in the natural and organic food industry. He joined WhiteWave in 2008 from The Boston Consulting Group (BCG) in Munich, where he focused on fast-moving consumer goods in household goods, fashion and food & beverage. He has an MBA from The Kellogg School of Management (Northwestern University) and a BS from Miami University. Jason lives in Boulder with his wife and three young children, and enjoys Colorado’s myriad outdoor activities.
Blake Waltrip
Blake began his career in corporate finance and investment banking prior to graduating with an MBA from the Anderson Graduate School of Management at UCLA. He went on to pursue a career as a consumer packaged goods marketing and general management executive. Blake successfully transformed several brands and pioneered the Nestle Beverage Company entry into category management during his tenure with Nestle USA. As VP Marketing and General Manager for Celestial Seasonings, a growth stage natural foods company, he and his team successfully grew the business by roughly 50% over a two-year period prior to the sale of the company. Blake’s background includes starting up a consumer focused e-commerce company as well as turn-around management experience with a European owned Consumer Goods Company. From 2002 to 2009 Blake was a partner in a Marketing and Business Strategy consulting firm leveraging his 20 years of experience successfully building and growing both mature and start-up businesses in various roles in marketing management, business development, sales management, and general management. In April of 2009 Blake returned to Celestial Seasonings as the CMO to provide the vision and innovation for the company to successfully drive growth while fulfilling the brands mission of being an environmentally and socially responsible business. In March 2013 Blake joined Quinoa Corporation (a private equity backed company) as the Chief Marketing and Sales Officer. Quinoa Corporation is the first company to export Quinoa from Bolivia and makes a range of products under the Ancient Harvest brand. The company was recently moved to Boulder from Los Angeles. Blake lives in Lafayette Colorado with his wife and two children. He is on the board of a growth stage consumer products company, consults for the Unreasonable Institute, and actively enjoys his lifestyle that includes hiking, tennis, running, skiing, yoga, and meditation. Blake is Co-Vice President of Naturally Boulder.
Steve Wangler
Steve's early introduction to the Natural Products Industry occurred in 1976. His mother, Karen, took a job with the local natural foods coop in their Upstate NY hometown. She began bringing home new natural foods to her six children: wheat bread, yogurt, Quinoa, etc. She introduced her family to a new world of natural foods. Karen thrived in the Natural Products Industry for +20 years. Its influence continues today as she enjoys Yoga and enters her 80’s with health and vitality. Steve is a consumer products veteran; his career spans divisions of Kraft, PepsiCo and The Coors Brewing Company. He served as VP of Sales with SPINS from 2008 to 2014. Today, Steve is VP of Sales with 34 Degrees. He holds a BS and MBA in Business. He and his wife, Trenna, live and thrive in Boulder.
Catherine Mangan Walsh
Catherine began her career in New York City, first in financial consulting and then in the marine insurance industry after obtaining her JD from Brooklyn Law School. After living in Singapore for 6-years and working in a shipyard, she returned home to New York City in 2009 and worked as an underwriter. In 2010, Catherine was inspired by the book “Born to Run” and discovered that she had celiac disease. Both events formed the basis for the inspiration to start Yummari, an organic superfood snack company, of which she is Co-CEO along with her husband Jason. It was after attending a Naturally Boulder event that they decided to move themselves and Yummari from NYC to Colorado.

Director of Operations

Arron Mansika
Arron began serving Naturally Boulder in 2006 as part of the group’s original taskforce. He helped the organization convert to its current 501 c 6, membership-based structure with a governing board of directors. As an inaugural board member, Arron served on multiple committees, chaired Networking, oversaw development and implementation of Naturally Boulder’s annual sponsorship model, and initiated key organizational systems and program deliverables. He was named Director of Operations in 2010 to further strengthen the group. Arron founded Boulder’s Best Organics in 2006, named in 2008 by the Boulder County Business Report as the second fastest growing company in Boulder Valley with sales under $2M. That same year, he was nominated as the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year. He sold majority of the company in 2009 to industry veterans. Previously, Arron led a Boulder-based nonprofit for eight years, systemizing its operations, refining its mission to advance social change, and overseeing a quadrupling of its budget. He has consulted with many local companies and serves on the Community Affairs Council of the Boulder Chamber. From Naropa University, Arron earned his MA in Environmental Leadership.

Joan Boykin
President, Boykin Consulting: Sr Consultant, Way Better Snacks & WhiteWave Foods

Joan Boykin has over 35 years experience in the natural and organic products industry in consumer package goods, retail, publishing, public relations, new product/business development, nonprofit management, and leadership coaching. She has held senior management positions at The Organic Center, Celestial Seasonings/The Hain Celestial Group, Alfalfa’s Markets, Wild Oat Markets, and New Hope Natural Media, and she is currently the VP of Marketing/PR for Way Better Snacks. Her past and present clients include: WhiteWave Foods, Alfalfa's Markets, Bayer Vitamins & Nutritionals, Pharmaca, Mineral Fusion, Sohgave!, University of Colorado’s Deming Center for Entrepreneurship, Sounds True, Under the Canopy, Goddess Garden, Bhakti Chai, and Simply Boulder Culinary Sauces.
Some of Joan’s current and past Board of Director appointments include: Just Label It/Organic Voices, Naturally Boulder, The Organic Center, Alfalfa’s Market, University of Colorado/Deming Center for Entrepreneurship’s Organic Business Initiative, Love Grown Foods, Under the Canopy EcoFashion, and CORE Colorado.

Boykin has a Master's Degree in Psychology/Organizational Development from Regis University, a Bachelor of Science Degree in General Studies/Communication Arts, a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Human Behavior, and a number of professional certifications. In Oct. 2012, she received Naturally Boulder’s Local Hero Award and in 2014, she received the Lifetime Achievement Award. When not working or exercising, Joan loves being surrounded by four generations of family in the Boulder/Denver area, especially her three little grandsons!
Mark Retzloff
Mark is a pioneer in the organic and natural foods industry with a 39-year career starting and managing successful companies. He co-founded Aurora Organic Dairy in 2003, and currently serves as Chairman.

Retzloff started his career in natural foods retail, as co-founder of Eden Foods, Rainbow Grocery, and Alfalfa’s Market, a regional chain of natural foods stores that merged with Wild Oats Markets. He went on to become one of the co-founders of Horizon Organic Dairy. There he served as Chairman, CEO and President International. He then became Chairman of Rudi’s Organic Bakery where he helped execute a successful turn-around. Mark lends his knowledge as a board member and advisor to emerging companies including Blue Horizon Organic Seafood, Living Harvest Hemp Milk, Under the Canopy, Boulder Ice Cream, BlueSun BioDiesel, Traditional Medicinals and Crocs Footwear. He is a managing partner at Greenmont Capital, and serves on the Boards of The Organic Center and RSF Social Finance. He received his B.S. degree in Environmental Studies from the University of Michigan and has received several awards, including the OTA’s Organic Leadership award and the Boulder Chamber of Commerce's Entrepreneur of the Year award.
Linnea Simons
Linnea M. Simons is an attorney with over 30 years of experience in representing business clients. After spending 20 years working in corporate America, she resigned from her position as Vice President of International Wholesale Markets for Qwest Communications to follow her heart, choosing to work with clients she could feel good about representing. For the past 10 years her practice was focused on the natural products and LOHAS (lifestyles of health and sustainability) sectors. Her clients have included natural and organic product manufacturers, dietary supplement manufacturers, alternative healthcare providers, alternative energy companies and related service providers. She is the principal founder of Naturally Boulder, chairing the group from its inception in 2004 until 2009. During Naturally Boulder’s formative years she served as a member of Boulder's Economic Vitality Advisory Board and was instrumental in securing industry cluster focus for the natural products industry with the City of Boulder. She has served on the board of CORE Colorado and the Boulder Chamber of Commerce and is the recipient of the Boulder County Business Report’s Lifetime Achievement Award for “Remarkable Women” and the Rob Planchard Award for outstanding service to entrepreneurs from the Boulder Chamber’s Esprit Entrepreneur Awards. Though retired from fulltime practice, she continues to mentor entrepreneurs and provide legal assistance to natural products companies.
Sylvia Tawse
Sylvia keeps her feet grounded in two worlds: organic agriculture and public relations for the natural products industry. Both are meant to benefit the environment while encouraging pleasure at the table. She founded The Fresh Ideas Group in 1995; the communications agency specializes in organic and specialty foods, as well as healthy living. She and her husband, Lyle Davis, own Pastures of Plenty Farm, an organic 35-acre working cut flower and vegetable farm and Big Bang Catering company. Sylvia has an extensive background in retail-level natural foods marketing and PR, in addition to providing senior level counsel to numerous brands on communication through major crises. She has conducted new product launches for dozens of national brands, based on educating the public on food issues that matter to today’s consumer. She is a member of the International Association of Culinary Professionals, Public Relations Society of America, Chef's Collaborative, Les Dames Escoffier and Slow Food International. Oh, and Sylvia is a mother of four.
