Catherine Mangan Walsh
Board member and education co-chair. Catherine is co-CEO of Yummari, an organic superfood snack company that she and her husband founded in New York City, inspired by the book Born to Run and Catherine’s discovery that she has celiac disease. After attending a Naturally Boulder event, Catherine and her husband decided to move their business and themselves from New York to Boulder. Fun fact: While living in Singapore, Catherine adopted a local stray there from a shipyard and brought her back to the U.S. Lady Coco has now lived both in Manhattan and Colorado.
Board member. Rob is an attorney with Faegre Baker Daniels, serving the firm as counsel in the corporate group and practicing out of the Denver and Boulder offices. He counsels clients in the natural products industry on a wide variety of corporate and transactional matters. Factoid: Rob is allergic to nuts, peanuts, fish and seafood.
Board member and economic development chair. Clif is executive director of the Boulder Economic Council, the economic development arm of the Boulder Chamber. He has more than a dozen years of economic development experience in Boulder and the Denver metro area and worked in the private sector in financial services and information technology. Fun fact: A Colorado native, Clif is an avid kayaker.
Board member and co-chair for sponsorship, spring fling, and autumn awards. David is Director of Business Development for SPINS, the leading provider of retail consumer insights, analytics and consulting for the Natural, Organic and Specialty Products Industry. Stretching back to his days with Wild Oats, David has remained a passionate advocate for enabling the innovation of natural brands via sound, fact-based decision making. Fun Fact: Prior to going vegan, David worked for one summer at the Ben & Jerry’s factory in Waterbury, VT where employees were allowed to bring home up to 3 pints per day and eat unlimited ice cream during shifts.
Board member, morning mingle co-chair and membership co-chair. Christopher is a natural products entrepreneur whose company, Keen One Quinoa, was hatched in a product development class at the University of Colorado — Boulder in 2007. Keen One offers dinner mixes, cereals and snacks made from organic quinoa.
Board member, vice president and education co-chair. Adriane is director of marketing for the Earth Balance division of Boulder Brands Inc., responsible for managing brand strategy and growth, communications, digital marketing, new product development, community involvement efforts, cause marketing initiatives, and furthering the plant-based diet message. She also founded a marketing communications company focused on natural products. Fun fact: Adriane loves chocolate, and eats it every day (the 70% cacao, organic, fair-trade variety)!
Board member and morning mingle co-chair. As Vice President of Finance and Administration for Bhakti Chai, Susan is the operating, finance and human resource glue for this rapidly scaling organization. A longtime Boulderite, she has held operations management and human resource positions in a number of area CPG companies. She also served as CEO of the Boulder Chamber of Commerce for eight years, helping to create the Innovation Center of the Rockies and Naturally Boulder. Fun fact: while guardian of the star on Flagstaff Mountain she converted it to wind power.
Board Member, networking night and communications co-chair. Jen is the Marketing Manager for 34 Degrees, makers of 34º Crisps – the all-natural, light and crunchy crackers that are simply good to eat whether enjoyed straight out of the box or paired cheeses, dips and spreads. Jen has been with 34 Degrees for over four years rising up in the ranks from Sales & Marketing Coordinator to Marketing Manager after earning her Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with a marketing emphasis from the CU Boulder Leeds School of Business. In her free time, Jen can be found trying out a new restaurant with friends or taking full advantage of the healthy Colorado lifestyle via skiing, hiking and cycling on her road bike. Fun fact: Jennifer spent a semester of her junior year of college studying abroad in Shanghai, China learning Mandarin Chinese.
Board member, president elect and communications co-chair. As the executive director of content and insights for New Hope Natural Media, Carlotta oversees the content strategy for all of New Hope’s in-person, digital and print products serving suppliers, manufacturers, retailers, service providers and consumers in the natural products industry. She is a frequent speaker on natural products issues and trends, and co-founder of an organic snacks company. Fun fact: Carlotta’s great grandparents emigrated from Sweden to Boulder in 1876.
President Pro Tem and co-chair of Spring Fling and of Pitch Slam. Bill is a natural products veteran with more than 25 years of corporate marketing and management experience. He is a co-founder of Boulder Farm Team, an accelerator for natural, organic, local and sustainable start-ups. He formerly served as executive VP for marketing of Gaiam Inc., a leading lifestyle company for yoga, fitness and wellness products and content. Fun fact: Bill is a talented bass guitar player who gigs often with popular bands in venues large and small around Boulder.
Board member and Spring Fling and Pitch Slam co-chair. Steve is Vice President of Sales and Analytics at Kevita, makers of functional probiotic drinks. A veteran natural products industry sales executive, Steve has served as vice president of sales for 34 Degrees and was vice president of sales for SPINS, the leading provider of retail consumer insights, analytics and consulting for the natural products industry.
Board member, Networking Night co-chair and Pitch Slam co-chair. As marketing manager for Door to Door Organics, Alex is on a mission to make organic and natural products available to all — with one click. She is a veteran CPG marketing executive and held a variety of marketing, creative and community engagement roles at Alfalfa’s Markets and Interact On Shelf. She represents Naturally Boulder on the board of Making Local Food Work. Fun fact: With more than five of singing lessons under her belt, you may spot Alex at local karaoke hot spots singing some Patsy Cline, Lauren Hill or Amy Winehouse.
Board member and sponsorship co-chair. Jason is senior vice president and general manager of WhiteWave Foods’ Yogurt business. Previously, he headed WhiteWave’s Corporate Strategy, Business Development and Innovation teams, where he played an instrumental role in the IPO of WhiteWave and the subsequent acquisitions of So Delicious, Vega, Wallaby and others. Fun fact: Jason recently completed the Leadville 100 mountain bike race, completing his quest to earn a buckle to accompany the buckle from his Leadville 100 run.
Board member and Pitch Slam co-chair. Alex is a marketing executive at Boulder Brands, parent company of Earth Balance, Glutino, EVOL and Udi’s Gluten-Free. She previously worked in innovation and product marketing for Rudi’s Organic Bakery and Hain-Celestial, and owned a marketing firm focused on natural products. Fun fact: Alex is a Boulder native and will climb anything from the Flatirons to frozen waterfalls or sky-high trees in the redwood forest.
Board member and Membership co-chair. John Grubb is Managing Partner of the Sterling-Rice Group, a Boulder-based, 100 person brand strategy and innovation firm. John leads engagements across a full range of global blue-chip clients, as well as more entrepreneurial businesses and private equity backed brands. He has deep experience in nutrition and in natural, organic, and functional food and beverages. John’s passion for strategy runs throughout his 30 years of business experience –half of which has been as a consultant, and half in senior executive marketing roles. After earning his MBA from Yale University, he began his consulting career at Bain & Company. While at Bain he worked in a wide range of industries on growth strategy and M&A assignments. Since Bain, he has led the marketing and strategy functions in retail, manufacturing, and food processing companies. John is a frequent speaker on the topics of health and wellness, consumer trends, and business strategy including industry conferences such as The Grocery Manufacturers Association, Natural Products Expo, Healthy Foods Europe, NBJ Summit, and others. He is a member of the Board of Advisors at the Yale Center for Customer Insights.
