Description

To lead mindfully, with conscious awareness, is an art that is acquired through experience, a willingness to learn, and practice. Join the Naturally Boulder Community for a special presentation and Authentic Leadership workshop, led by Sheldon Romer, founder of Rudi’s Organic Bakery, and Susan Skjei, Director of the Authentic Leadership Center at Naropa University.

You will learn the principles and practices of Authentic Leadership, and new elements you can incorporate into your own leadership skill set. Whether you’re leading a team or have ambitions of leading your own company, this presentation is open to all levels of aspiring and experienced leaders, and will combine an educational discussion with hands on small group exercises to hone in on the day-to-day competencies of authentic leadership.

This session will provide actionable takeaways you can incorporate into your own organizations, and your own life, and will be an inspiring educational opportunity.

Biographies

Sheldon Romer is a consultant and certified professional coach with over 14 years of experience. Sheldon works with some of the country’s most respected companies and non-profits, along with their CEOs, upper management staff, and board of directors. Sheldon is widely acknowledged for his unique perceptive insights into leadership development, change/culture management, team development, strategic advising, conversations, planning, facilitation and executive coaching.

As the co-founder and former CEO of Rudi’s Organic Bakery, Sheldon led the company to become the largest organic bread baker in the United States. Sheldon’s unique approach – combining compassion with sharp business acumen — was key to his leadership at Rudi’s, and the success realized by the company.

After 24 years at Rudi’s, Sheldon has gone on to become a successful business consultant, coach, and skilled facilitator, drawing from his wide experience in the business sector, breadth of tools and skills, and ability to facilitate deep understanding within and between individuals. He works with corporations and non-profit organizations, including hospitals and healthcare organizations, restaurants and specialty food companies, manufacturers, hi-tech, government associations and management consultancies, and family businesses, among others.

For the last 14 years, Sheldon has served as a Coach and adjunct faculty member at Naropa University in the Authentic Leadership Program. He is a member of the Deming Board of Advisors at the University of Colorado’s Leeds School of Business.

He is certified in the Leadership Circle Profile, the premier leadership assessment tool.

Sheldon received his MSW from the Hunter College School of Social Work/CUNY and his M.A. in Counseling from New York University. He also holds a B.A. in Psychology from Brooklyn College.

Susan Skjei
Over the last 25 years Susan has worked with thousands of leaders in the US, Canada and Europe to cultivate mindfulness and authenticity, strengthen relational skills, and effectively lead the changes they want to see in their organizations and in the world. Formerly a Vice President and Chief Learning Officer for a fortune 1000 company, Susan is currently the director of the Authentic Leadership Center at Naropa University in Boulder, Colorado. The purpose of the Center is to inspire, educate and empower current and next generation leaders to act as agents of positive organizational and social change. Susan has designed and facilitated many conferences, workshops and deep training programs and has a unique ability to foster energetic and high trust learning environments. She has a Master of Science Degree in Human Resource Development from American University a Ph.D. in Organizational Systems from Fielding Graduate University and is a Certified as a Professional Coach through the International Coaching Federation.
