Assistant Brand Manager


Marketing professional who will assist in the development and execution of brand building strategies of 1-2 medium brands. The Assistant Brand Manager is focused on building brands to drive future growth for Justin’s. They assist Brand Managers in achieving top line and bottom line growth. The Assistant Brand Manager will also be responsible for developing the annual operating plan and executing the tactics, managing the agencies required to achieve that plan. The Assistant Brand Manager is accountable for the profit/loss of their assigned brands.

Key Accountabilities:
• Supports Brand Manager in the execution of brand strategies. In conjunction with the Sales Strategy team, develops sales support materials for major programs and new item launches. Works closely with Consumer Insights on the execution of consumer research and new product design. Leads projects under the direction of a Brand Manager that may include packaging redesigns, product formulation changes, sales collateral development, and media executions such as digital, owned and earned media tactics. Given autonomy on small- to medium-sized projects to make decisions with minimal oversight. (35%)

• Develops annual brand plans and is accountable for the profit/loss of their assigned brands. Monitors and tracks financial performance and makes recommendations to the Brand Manager to ensure delivery of sales and profit plans. This includes working closely with Sales Strategy on volume and trade spend, coordinating with Accounting and Operations on cost of goods, and managing their assigned marketing budget to the appropriate spend. (30%)

• Leads large, cross functional projects that expand beyond the accountability of their direct manager. Examples include trade show execution (booth design, logistics management, sales material production), brand positioning research, ingredients sourcing changes, and brand equity advertising for a given media channel such as digital or print. (15%)

• Manages the creative production and media execution process for their given brand. Provides a creative brief directing agency partners on the goal, consumer target, and executional mandatories. Approves/edits agency creative and media deployment plans with minimal oversight from the Brand Manager. Manages agencies to deadlines, quality standards, and budget parameters. (20%)

• This role requires 10% company-related travel

• Understanding of brand marketing and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced work environment and possess a creative eye
• Excellent time and project management skills
• Excellent working knowledge of basic computer applications
• Results oriented, flexible, resourceful and self-motivated, with the ability to collaborate with key partners internally and externally
• Ability to write routine reports, think critically and optimize programming on-the-fly
• Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers
• Ability to communicate in a fast-paced work environment
• Strong analytical skills, verbal and written communication skills

• 1-3 years of experience r MBA in marketing or related
• CPG experience
• Undergraduate degree in a business related discipline is desired and marketing focus preferred
