Position Summary:
The Director of Sales will be responsible for achieving sales revenue numbers, trade spending objectives, and managing budget and profit goals for the organization. The position has overall responsibility for building and maintaining strong relationships with regional and national retail and food service customers, and leading the sales organization and broker network. Responsibilities include shaping the strategic direction of the product portfolio, contributing to company strategies and initiatives, and managing performance objectives.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
• Cultivate and lead sales organization and external food broker network.
• Identify and develop new sales opportunities to advance meaningful company growth
• Build relationships with all decision makers within the following channels:
– Natural and independent
– Conventional grocery
– Mass market
– Regional and national distributors
– E-commerce
• Drive revenue by leveraging existing distribution network and expanding direct accounts
• Manage, influence and lead relationships with brokers, distributors and customers to achieve objectives; Track and drive customer and broker performance; Develop action plans to address challenges and maximize opportunities
• Manage promotional trade spending, analyze promotional and program performance, and make appropriate adjustments to enhance and improve ROI
• Develop and implement account and channel specific sales plans
• Conduct regular field visits with accounts, distributors and broker representatives

• Maintain solid understanding of customer requirements, needs and trends; Develop
ability to translate customer knowledge into effective sales strategies
• Achieve results in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial, limited resource environment
• Effectively communicate Boulder Organic Foods point of difference and brand strategy;
Communicate any special pricing, new products, product updates, etc.
• Identify and manage most effective SKU assortment and seasonal rotations
• Other responsibilities as assigned

Education and Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree required
• 10+ years of sales leadership experience in consumer brands
• Passion for health and/or natural foods industry strongly preferred
• Natural industry and deli experienced strongly preferred
• Significant experience managing broker networks
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
• Strong financial acumen and problem-solving skills
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and standard business OS

Travel Requirements: 25% – 50% travel.
