Slow Food Denver

We are seeking to hire a new director who will successfully lead Slow Food Denver in its next phase of growth. This person will be skilled in engaging with community leaders and partners, have experience in fundraising and relationship development, and be a strong leader. Equally as important, the director will have strong communications skills, a keen attention to detail and experience managing operations and financials. The director will manage all aspects of the chapter including development, programs, organization management, partnerships and community engagement. The director also maintains connection and communication with Slow Food USA.

We are a small team working at a fast pace to champion Slow values. We are looking for a leader who brings a positive outlook, is self-motivated, team-focused and believes in having fun while working hard.

This position is hired by and reports directly to the board of directors. Specifics include:


Develop the annual budget and provide quarterly financial updates to the BoD
Manage and liaise with the independent bookkeeper and accountant
Maintain updated insurance coverage
Maintain Secretary of State filings for Good Standing
Oversee office upkeep and operations


Lead fundraising efforts for the chapter, including corporate sponsorships, grants, individual and small business giving and ticket sales
Plan membership and donor appreciation efforts
Manage grants, reporting processes and final reports
Develop relationships with local foundations, businesses and other funding partners

Community Engagement and Partnerships:

Act as primary representative of Slow Food Denver in the community
Cultivate partnerships and alliances with the public, non-profit and private community leaders and entities to build strong relationships and collaborations
Lead public relations efforts


Work with the team to plan the annual events and programs calendar to support community engagement, build and maintain partnerships with local organizations and food producers, and increase awareness of SFD in the Denver community
Ensure attendance of Slow Food leadership and board members at events
Oversee the planning, delivery and evaluation of programs and events

Marketing, Website & Social Media:

Define the marketing strategy and priorities for the organization
Oversee management of the website, social media and external communications

Staff and General Management:

Attend all board meetings
Hire, manage and oversee Slow Food Denver staff and consultants
Manage contracts with vendors
Manage Interns
Oversee recruitment and management of volunteers

Slow Food USA Liaison:

Participate in regular national leadership meetings
Share information through appropriate channels, to ensure Slow Food Denver’s community impact is recognized by the national organization
Oversee submission of annual chapter report
Stay aware of national programs and initiatives, and share about them locally

Bonus Skills

Spanish fluency (not required)


PART-TIME, $30,000 -35,000/annually, approximately 20 hours/week
