Environmental, Health and Safety Manager

Position Overview
The Environmental, Health and Safety Manager is responsible for training and development of safety programs, implementing key safety business initiatives regarding production processes, overseeing and enforcing all safety measures for the organization, ensuring compliance with OHSA rules, environmental safety guidelines, and all other governmental regulations.
Essential Functions
 Responsible for the hiring, training, performance management of the Safety and Training Coordinator
 Designs, develops, and manages employee safety training programs
 Evaluates the working environment, equipment and processes to ensure compliance with government safety regulations and industry standard
 Runs informational meetings for employees regarding proper health and safety habits and procedures at work
 Identifies health and safety hazards and takes corrective actions
 Recommends ways to improve health and safety in the workplace
 Fields inquiries from employees about proper safety procedures
 Responds to on-site emergencies and incidents
 Investigates on-the-job accidents and writes up reports, identifying hazards or faults that caused the accident and devises strategic plan to remedy those problems
 Ensures all Workers Comp paperwork is completed
 Monitors workplace on a daily basis to ensure all activity meets safety compliance
 Performs safety audits on new equipment
 Conducts regulatory audits
 Facilitates the integration of safety priorities into all relevant processes, functions, and services
 Runs the safety committee meetings and tracks the follow-up on action items
 Stays current on state and federal workplace safety regulations
 Ensures that all safety equipment related to the facilities are working properly
 Provides training on fire and evacuation plans
 Management of third-party relationships that pertain to safety
 Selects appropriate tools and delivery methods that effectively meet the needs of the employees and the business
 Identifies new technologies to advance learning strategies
 Responsible for adhering to Safe Quality Food (SQF) and food safety policies and procedures
 Responsible for maintaining a food safe work environment and in the event it is perceived that it is compromised, action is to be taken which includes stopping the process and notifying the production supervisor or lead on duty
 Other duties as assigned
Skills & Knowledge
 Strong attention to detail and excellent follow-up skills
 Ability to define problems and resolve them quickly
 Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations
 Familiar with current health and safety regulations
 Ability to work with ever changing priorities and situations
 Able to work with individuals at all levels both in and outside of the organization
 Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from both internal and external customers
 Excellent written and verbal communication skills
 Proven ability to problem solve in a fast paced, high production environment
 Ability to organize and prioritize workload to meet deadlines
 Ability to work independently and make sound decisions
 Outstanding organizational, planning, project management, problem resolution, communication, facilitation, and collaboration skills
 Demonstrated ability to design, develop, document, and deliver effective training
 Strong proficiency with MS Office (Word, PPT, Outlook, Access)
 Positive attitude and enthusiastic about teaching, leading, and coaching
 High level of confidentiality

Education & Experience
 Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Safety, Occupational Safety and Health, or related field required
 Five years of related experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
 Bi-lingual English/Spanish (Required)
