Boulder County Farmers Markets

Boulder County Farmers Markets (BCFM) is looking for seasonal market staff for our Boulder, Longmont, and Denver Farmers Markets. We are seeking energetic and talented individuals who are capable of working independently and as a team, able to multitask, and able to handle a wide variety of job responsibilities. Ideal candidates should have a passion for local food, be reliable and timely, and thrive in a physical work environment in all weather conditions.

Responsibilities:

Market Staff will assist in everything from setting up the market in the morning to breaking it down at the end of the day. During the market, tasks include staffing our front entrance, upholding COVID rules and regulations, communicating with vendors and customers, managing our Eco-Cycle program, and other general market activities. Additional opportunities for leadership exist and may be tailored to applicants experience, interest or expertise.

Market Responsibilities:

Market set-up and break-down
Support Market Coordinator’s efforts to enforce the market’s Rules & Regulations
Sustain Eco-Cycle program during market hours
Maintain market equipment and storage locations
Assist in supervision of volunteers at market
Maintain mandatory street closures

Required Competencies:

Excellent Customer Service – Greets and anticipates customer and vendor needs by providing information and quality service.

Interpersonal Skills – Empathetic, holds boundaries, builds relationships and receives feedback well with all BCFM stakeholders – i.e. customers, staff, and vendors.

Takes Direction – Takes direction well and completes all tasks fully and efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

Desired Competencies:

–Knowledge of Food Systems & Agriculture
– Working knowledge or desire to learn of the general state of food systems and Colorado agriculture.

Qualifications:

Ideal candidates will have one year of experience working in local food systems and at least one year of experience in a customer service-facing role.
Available to work Saturdays from 6am–4pm (April 3rd through November 20th), Wednesday evenings from 2pm–9pm (May 5th through October 6th), and Winter Market (Dec 4th and 5th)
Capable of performing physically demanding work including working outdoors year round
Ability to lift 50 pounds

Position Structure/Timing:

Reports directly to Boulder Market Coordinator or Longmont Market Coordinator and to the Operations Manager
Training session required in early March

Wages and Benefits:

This is a part-time position, 10-18 hours per week, $13/hr
Potential for increased hours through our Curbside operations
