Staff Accountant

Overview
Boulder based natural products company seeking a highly motivated Staff Accountant.

Role & Responsibilities
• Daily entry of key financial data (invoicing, accounts payable, cash application, and trade deductions)
• Research and resolve payment discrepancies
• Monitor accounts receivable and follow up on aging accounts
• Research and validate customer deductions/chargebacks and dispute as necessary
• Set up new vendors and coordinate subsequent payments
• Assist with local tax compliance (sales/use/property)
• Perform reconciliations on a weekly/monthly/quarterly basis
• Follow established procedures for processing receipts, cash etc.
• Prepare bank deposits
• Assist with month-end Revenue analysis and Adjustments
• Monitor prepaid and accrued expense activity
• Enter journal entries while ensuring accounting for all activities in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles
• Maintain appropriate tracking and reporting of journal activity
• Assist in preparation of 1099 tax forms
• Document, implement, and ensure compliance with internal controls
• Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures for accounting processes and procedures
• May involve the maintenance of end user documentation and training
• May assist with acquisition(s) integration
• Develop and implement processes that support continuous improvement and strong business results
• Ensure compliance with Company policies
• Contributes to culture that expects the highest level of integrity and ethical behavior
• Ad Hoc reporting and analysis
• Additional duties as required

Qualifications
• Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA a plus
• 1-3 years (plus) experience in accounting or related field, preferably in audit or logistics/warehousing
• Advanced knowledge of Excel strongly preferred
• Strong knowledge and understanding of GAAP and accrual basis of accounting

Preferred Skills
• Aptitude for numbers and attentive to detail
• Strong organizational and analytical skills
• Experience with QuickBooks Enterprise and Fishbowl Inventory
• Experience with A/P automation tools such as Mineral Tree or Bill.com
• Excellent analytical and communication skills, both oral and written
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
• Ability to identify issues/control weaknesses and develop and implement recommendations for resolution
• Ability to work well in a team environment while focusing on individual tasks and priorities
• Innovative problem-solving skills and flexible mind-set
• Detail oriented, highly organized and able to work independently
