Who We Are:
The Jackfruit Company converts a heavily underutilized miracle crop – jackfruit, the world’s meatiest plant — to income for farming families, and plant-based whole foods. Today, TJC is 70% of all jackfruit retail product sales and the largest single buyer for jackfruit in the world. With our Smoked Pulled Jackfruit, we are the second plant-based entrant into the Fresh Meat category (after Beyond Meat), and are poised for major growth bringing new retail product lines to market, and expanding upon 2018’s 2x growth in foodservice. Our aim is to mainstream consumption of jackfruit, a >$1 billion opportunity, by meeting rising consumer demand for plant-based whole food, in contrast to heavily processed alternatives. We are a top 5 brand in the Refrigerated Meat Alternatives category, with distribution at major retailers including Whole Foods, Sprouts, Kroger, Publix, Safeway, and Costco, and have grown >7x since 2016. CEO Annie Ryu founded TJC as a college pre-medical student in 2011 to transform healthy eating, farmers’ livelihoods, and humanity’s eco-footprint for the better.
