Maui Wowi Hawaiian Announces Strategic Partnership to Co-Brand with Doc Popcorn Globally

Greenwood Village, CO. (April 14, 2009) – Maui Wowi Hawaiian, the world’s largest franchisor of gourmet all-natural Hawaiian coffees and smoothies, announced a strategic partnership with Doc Popcorn, a Boulder, CO. based retailer and producer of fresh natural flavored popcorn, to launch Doc Popcorn Franchising around-the-world. The partnership provides an opportunity for Maui Wowi’s franchisees to significantly increase their revenues and income while offering them the ability to capture a wider audience with gourmet popcorn in an infinite array of natural flavors.

“For quite some time, I have been searching for a business that can be co-branded with Maui Wowi,” said Michael Haith, CEO of Maui Wowi Hawaiian. “Doc Popcorn is a perfect complement to Maui Wowi’s values as a best-in-class, all natural, delicious product.” “The company is also a great match for our franchisees,” continued Haith. “Doc Popcorn is an amazing product that transcends a commodity, popcorn, to something that is in a class all its own.”

The alliance will also enable Doc Popcorn to quicken its pace to global expansion through franchising. Maui Wowi will provide the Doc Popcorn team a springboard to create a premium franchise platform and introduce a whole new popcorn experience to the world.

“We have spent several years perfecting our better-for-you snack concept and have been approached by dozens of facilitators in the franchise world to help us launch at a national level,” said Rob Israel, Founder and CEO of Doc Popcorn. “But having met Michael, we immediately saw that with over a decade of experience in building a franchise system of over 600 locations coupled with its reputation for producing a natural quality product, Maui Wowi was the right partner to help us develop our franchise platform.” “We were especially intrigued by the unique potential Maui Wowi has to put their products on mobile carts,” continued Israel. “Doc Popcorn is particularly suited to this type of business model which enables an even lower cost of entry and impressive ROI for aspiring franchisees—especially important given today’s challenging economy.”

The two companies are amazingly similar in their cultures as Maui Wowi and Doc Popcorn share a passion for all-natural products and an eye towards social responsibility, ecologically sustainable products, and high quality standards. “The fact that we both proudly serve American products (Kona coffee and Popcorn) was not lost on us,” said Haith.

“Maui Wowi and Doc Popcorn also share a deep dedication to making a positive difference in the communities where we live, work and do business,” said Renée Israel, Co-Founder of Doc Popcorn. “We look forward to working with Maui Wowi to make a meaningful difference for the planet.”
