NATURALLY BOULDER ANNOUNCES BOARD MEMBER ELECTION RESULTS
New Board members begin two-year terms in January
BOULDER, COLO. – JAN. 12, 2012 – Naturally Boulder, a local organization whose mission is to nurture start-up natural foods companies and promote Boulder as the epicenter of the natural products movement, today announced the results of its annual Board of Directors elections and Board officer appointees. The Naturally Boulder membership voted in four new Board members, and four existing Board members were re-elected.
The new Board members represent a variety of natural and organic industry backgrounds, from retailer, natural food broker, service provider and community partnership perspectives. The Naturally Boulder membership voted to elect the following individuals to occupy open seats on the Board: Laura Coblentz, VP of Marketing and Innovation for Pharmaca Integrative Pharmacy; Jacqui Detrich from the University of Colorado’s Deming Center for Entrepreneurship at the LEEDS School of Business; Paul Raab, partner at Linhart Public Relations; and Nike VanArsdale, Sales Manager with Presence Marketing.
“Naturally Boulder is an organization that brings together people working in the local natural and organic community through engaging education, networking events and celebrations,” said Doug Radi, President of the Board of Naturally Boulder. “As a working Board, we strive to ensure various perspectives from the natural and organic industry, and greater community are represented on our Board. We have made great strides in growing our membership, driving value for our sponsors and members, and being a hub for information about the local natural products industry, and we feel our current Board has the energy and wherewithal to take this work to the next level in the coming years.”
The Naturally Boulder bylaws provide that the Board may consist of up to 15 members and that Board members serve for two-year terms. Four Board members – Frances Draper of the University of Colorado, Ellen Feeney of White Wave Foods, Carla McCabe of Fresca Foods and Sonja Tuitele of Aurora Organic Dairy – were up for re-election this year, and the membership voted for them to continue to serve on the Naturally Boulder Board. They join the remainder of the Board who will fulfill their two-year terms: Bill Capsalis of MarkEnomics LLC, Rob Goldstein of Polsinelli Shughart PC, Victoria Hartman of Madhava Natural Sweeteners, Catherin Hunziker of WishGarden Herbs, Jennifer Margoles of 34 DEGREES, Doug Radi of Rudi’s Organic Bakery and Blake Waltrip of Celestial Seasonings.
The Board also elected its officers for 2012. Doug Radi will continue to serve as President of the Board. Ellen Feeney and Sonja Tuitele will continue to serve as co-Vice Presidents of the Board. Frances Draper will continue to serve as Board Treasurer and Jennifer Margoles will assume the role of Secretary for the Board. Arron Mansika will also continue to serve as the Director of Operations and Administration for Naturally Boulder.
The Naturally Boulder Board will serve to promote natural and organic products business development and growth in Boulder. Additionally, the Board will focus on new and innovative ways to be a resource to the local natural and organic products industry, and develop unique ways to generate revenue for the 501(c)6 nonprofit trade organization, which will fund educational programming and networking opportunities for members of the local natural products industry.
